The Rev. Eric Overholt

Executive Priest

Fr. Eric Overholt was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK where he still enjoys a long heritage of family in the Nazarene church. He discovered Anglicanism while studying music in college at Baylor University in the mid-1990s. During that time, he also met the love of his life, Dedra, and they were married shortly after he graduated.

Together, they embarked upon what would become Eric’s first career as a professional French Horn player. That path took them first to New York where he earned a Masters Degree from the Juilliard School. After completing those studies, Eric’s career took them all over the US—from Savannah, GA to Cooperstown, NY to Houston, TX to Cincinnati, OH and finally to a position as Associate Principal Horn in the LA Philharmonic. Eric played with the LA Phil for 8 years until a neurological condition (which has no other affect on his life) took his ability to play the horn. Through this trial, the Lord called Eric into ministry.

Ministry began at the church Eric and Dedra called home and where their children, Rachel and Sam were baptized and confirmed—St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Montrose, CA. He served in various roles there both as a lay person and eventually a Deacon—capital campaign lead, youth pastor, connections pastor, and more. Once in the ordination process, seminary studies earned him another Masters Degree, this time in Classical Theology at Talbot/Biola, and he is near completion of yet another Masters Degree in Spiritual Formation & Soul Care at Talbot’s Institute of Spiritual Formation. Along the way he also completed an online graduate Diploma in Anglican Studies at Trinity School for Ministry. Eric is eager to set down earning Masters Degrees soon!

Eric was ordained a Deacon on October 17, 2024 here in the ACNA’s Diocese of Western Anglicans. While a Deacon, he joined the staff at All Saints. Exactly one year after his ordination as a Deacon, on the Eve of the Feast of St. Luke 2025, he was ordained a priest here at All Saints Cathedral.

Eric has a pastor’s heart and dearly enjoys sitting with parishioners and helping them learn to discern the Lord’s work in their heart and life. Here at All Saints you’ll see him preaching occasionally, celebrating Eucharist regularly (he loves to sing the liturgy), and teaching discipleship classes periodically. You’ll also find him working at his computer or overseeing various aspects of church family life during the week.

Eric enjoys television and movies, a quiet evening watching the sunset with his wife and/or kids on their back porch, all things astronomy and space related, and music. He does still love music.
